GIOVANNI CHIANESE

Giovanni Chianese is a researcher at the Institute of Sciences and Technologies for Sustainable Energy and Mobility (STEMS) of the National Research Council (CNR). In May 2023, he completed his PhD in Industrial Engineering (XXXV cycle) under the supervision of prof. Stanislao Patalano, and defended a thesis on process modelling, monitoring and control for laser welded copper-to-steel battery tab connectors. He has been involved in two industrial-led research projects in the context of collaborations at Warwick Manufacturing Group. Currently, he is a team member of the Energy Storage and Conversion Lab at CNR-STEMS. His research interests include physics-based modelling of batteries for electric ground vehicles to simulate their operation, and the estimation of battery state-of-charge and state-of-health with machine learning and neural networks. He has co-authored in several journal papers and has been speaker at international conferences.
