GIUSEPPE ANDREA FONTANELLI


Giuseppe Andrea Fontanelli is Assistant Professor in the Department of Industrial Engineering at University of Naples Federico II (UNINA). He is the Team Leader of UNINA for the NEFERTARI (New Equipment for Fusion Experimental Research and Technological Advancements with Rfx Infrastructure project, focusing on the development of a new robotic system for inspection and maintenance of a novel equipment for fusion in collaboration with Padova RFX. His research activities include dynamic modelling of long-reach, high redundant manipulators, design of articulated tendon-driven and soft continuum manipulators for inspection and maintenance, vibration dampening in long-reach manipulators, and design and control of advanced mechatronic and robotic systems. He has co-authored more than 12 journal papers and 22 conference papers/book chapters. He is co-inventor of 10 patent-pending applications. He is co-funder of 3 UNINA Spin-off companies. He is the recipient of several awards in the research and technology transfer activities, including the Switch 2 Product Innovation in Bioengineering Award (S2P GNB 2018). He is member of ADM.
